DHAKA: Urban Development Directorate (UDD) has taken a big plan to ban unplanned and scattered industry and select a suitable place for new industrial area.
The plan has been taking under a project titled ‘National Comprehensive Development Plan for the Whole Country”.
Ministry of Housing and Public Works took the initiatives and DURP sent the draft to Planning Commission.
Recently, a meeting of Project Evolution Committee (PEC) was held in Planning Commission where its member and also senior secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun chaired the meeting.
Director Faozi Bin Farid of UDD said to banglanews that if the project has been implemented many important work could be done including to the unplanned and scattered industry. We hoped that it would be approved in the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC).
The cost of this project is estimated at TK 85.6 crore which would be spent from government fund and the construction work would be completed from March, 2014 to February, 2016, he added.
Planning Commission authority said they will identify the industrial area of the country and develop the communication with business centre and different ports.
There are five components in the project. As National Level Plan, Regional level Plan, Corridor Development Plan, Conservation Plan and Industrial Plan.
In the sixth five-year plan the project has been divided into six stages.
First stage (Strategic Planning)
In this stage concerted planning composition by accumulating important action plans, another composition for regional area, taking new policy for fair urbanization and another policy to enforce the law of urban and rural planning would be taken.
Strategic Planning would be taken for important infrastructure like airport, national highway, nuclear power plant and so on.
Second Stage (Action Area Plan)
The stage contain determine the planning system for urban, regional and remote area, bring all sectors of urban and regional section and take action plan for special area like sundarban, webland, haor, bil, deep sea port, new airport, land port, coal city, Mega Power Plant, hard rock etc.
Third Stage (Regional Development Planning)
In this stage the experts will analysis the nature of land, soil, agriculture, population, disaster tendency, water science and environment.
Fourth Stage (Corridor Development Plan)
According to highway corridor and fider road, national policy and the strategy to implement the policy would be transformed as territorial in this project.
Fifth Stage (Industry Related Audit and Reserve Planning)
New plan would be observe to bar the establishment of unplanned industry.
Sixth Stage (Planning Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation)
All activities to implement, monitoring and evaluation would be taken in this stage.
