KUALA LUMPUR: The international retailer and chain-shop companies like Starbucks and KFC are set to arrange the tuition fees for students of Optopreneur Institute in Malaysia through working at their outlets as part-timers.
This enterprise will help reducing the anxiety of students about arranging tuition fees as well as will be freed from facing police harassments as the work would be a part and parcel of their study.
The Optopreneur Institute has brought the facility of working to its students as the students are not allowed to work for more than 20 hours a week.
The founder of the institute Professor Dr. Datu Chin See Keat has taken the initiatives from the experience of his own life. He has inaugurated a two years’ ‘Diploma in Retailing’ program to build skilled workers in the field.
A student will get the exposure to be able to prove themselves as an efficient salesperson, manager and they might one day turn out to be an owner of a world-class retail shop.
International Education Consultant of Optopreneur Institute Mohammad Anisuzzaman told banglanews that a student has to pay BDT 220,000-300,000 as the first year’s tuition fee. Students also need to arrange another Tk 150,000-200,000 as next years’ tuition fee to extend their visas.
He further said the students cannot earn a lot because they have got only a 20-hour work permit per week. It is tough for them to manage the tuition fees for the second year after spending the cost of food and accommodation.
However, Anisuzzaman said the students of Optopreneur will not have to face the difficulty as they will be allowed to work in many outlets of famous retail shops as a part of their ‘Diploma in Retailing’ course.
Education Ministry of Malaysia has already recognized the course and the students have no legal barrier of working as it has been included in the syllabus, he added.
The students are also getting ready for the future path of proficiency through their study and practice, he added.
According to the curriculum, the students need to attend academic classes for two days, four days at workplace and a day as weekly holiday.
Malaysians are not interested in working in such retail shops. On the other hand, the shop owners do not offer more than MYR 1500-2000. In this case, Bangladeshi students get first priority to the shop owners for their skill, honesty and hard work.
One more facility for the students of the institute is that the retail companies will bear their tuition fees for the second semester.
Moreover, the retail companies will provide food, accommodation and pocket money to the students of the institute.
The founder of Optopreneur Professor Dr. Datu Chin See Keat is also founding chairman of ASEAN Grand Retail Association. He has put a great effort to have the agreements with the retail companies in this regard.
The course will also help the students learn about the deal with customers and about organizational behavior as well.
Also proprietor of England Optical Group Dr. Datu Chin See Keat has more than 40 business outlets in China and several outlets in Malaysia. He can recruit some skilled students in these outlets.
Dr. Datu Chin thinks that the salesperson should be aware enough about the products they are selling. ‘Diploma in Retailing’ program will help students in this regard.
