RAJSHAHI: Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) of India will conduct joint patrol in the Padma River to prevent smuggling, all types of trafficking including illegal weapons and drugs.
The decision was taken at a flag meeting held at the Shahebnagar BOP (Border Out Post) in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi on Thursday (January 17).
In the meeting, officials of BGB and BSF reached a consensus to stop border killing and human trafficking.
Rajshahi’s sector commander Colonel Mushfiqur Rahman Masum led the BGB team while Berhampore’s sector director DIG Kunal Majumder led the BSF team in the meeting.
Five Bangladeshi citizens were killed over the last two months of 2018. Besides, yaba pills are being smuggled into the country via various border areas of Rajshahi region. Both of the forces pledged to prevent them with sincerity, BGB sources said.
