DINAJPUR: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a touchstone statue from Maherpur village in Bochaganj upazila of the district on Monday (April 20).
The touchstone statue is, weighing 21.5 kg, valued at around Taka 30 lakh.
Dinajpur-42 BGB Battalion commander Lt Col Nahiduzzaman confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Tuesday (April 30).
“The touchstone statue was unearthed while digging up a pond at Maherpur village a few days back. The diggers, after discovering the statue, did not hand it over to upazila administration. Instead, they tried to smuggle it outside,” Nahiduzzaman said.
“On secret information, the drive was launched at the abovementioned village and the statue was found unattended,” Nahiduzzaman said.
