JHENAIDAH: This 48th death anniversary of Birshreshtha Hamidur Rahman is being marked on Monday (Oct 28).

Prof. Aminul Haque, Principal of Hamidur Rahman Degree College, urged all the educational institutions of the country to observe the martyrdom anniversary of Hamidur Rahman.

He said a milad and doa mahfi will be held at his village-Khordakhalishpur  in Moheshpur upazila in Jhenidah. 

Hamidur Rahman was born at Khordakhalishpur village in Moheshpur upazila Jhenidah in 1954. He was the second among his brothers and sisters. The village has been renamed Hamidnagar after the great hero.

Hamidur Rahman, while serving in the then East Bengal Regiment in 1971, joined the Liberation War. He embraced martyrdom while fighting the Pakistani occupation forces at Dhali frontier in Sreemongal in Sylhet on October 28.
