Gold prices surge again after recent declines

Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) on Thursday (Nov 21) announced another hike of gold prices in the local market, just two days after the last hike, following a four-time consecutive decrease.

The price of 22-carat gold has been raised by Tk1,994 per bhori (11.664 grams) to Tk1,39,443, effective from Friday, according to BAJUS press release.

The BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring made the decision during a meeting, followed by a press release signed by its Chairman Masudur Rahman.

According to the new rates, 22-carat gold will cost Tk1,39,443 per bhori, an increase of Tk1,994. The price of 21-carat gold has been raised by Tk1,901 to Tk1,33,098 per bhori, while 18-carat gold now costs Tk1,14,085 per bhori after a Tk1,632 hike. Gold using traditional methods is priced at Tk93,673 per bhori, up by Tk1,387.

Meanwhile, silver prices remain unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk2,578 per bhori, 21-carat is Tk2,449, 18-carat is Tk2,111, and traditional method silver is Tk1,586 per bhori.
