DHAKA: The government has taken an initiative to increase gas supply in industries by reducing in the power sector.

The decision came from a meeting at the secretariat on Monday.

Petrobangla Chairman Dr Hossain Mansur confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Gas supply will be reduced to two power stations of Sirajganj and Ashuganj which will reduce the production around 100 Megawatt.

Earlier on Sunday (September 8), BGMEA leaders met the State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid and informed that the production in 245 factories is being hampered due to shortage of gas.

The minister assured them about increasing the supply to garments factories shortly.
