Banglalink Rangpur Bhawaia Utshob ends

DHAKA: A three-day long ‘Banglalink Rangpur Bivagio Bhawaia Utshob 2014’ ended Saturday.

One of the most significant cultural festivals of the northern region, the three-day long festival includes rally, Pala Gaan, Bhawaia Dance and Bhawaia songs competition among other festivities.

Banglalink, one of the leading mobile-phone operators of the country, sponsored the event, organized by Sound Touch of Rangpur, for the sixth consecutive times.

After many years of celebrations, this event now has become a scope of reunion and entertainment for the mass people of the region as well as for our country.

To celebrate the event, around 300 artists from all eight Districts of Rangpur Division performed the Bhawaia songs contest.

Bhawaia is a very popular form of song in the regional level. For many years now, the North Bengal part of the country has become famous for the practice of Bhawaia songs. Bhawaia songs speak about various aspects of Bengali life.

Hence, it is a common platform where mass people from all age, race, and religion and income level participate. The festival draws participants from not only this particular region but thousands of fans from the whole country.

The opening rally was inaugurated by Sirajuddin, famous singer, lyricist, composer & bhawaia academic.

Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, Mayor, City Corporation, Rangpur,  Shakhawat Hossain Ranga, Shovapoti, Sommilito Sangskritik Jot, Mahbubul Alam, Regional Sales Manager, Bogra, Banglalink were among others present at the function.

Addressing the function, Marketing Director Solaiman Alam from Banglalink said, “Over the years Bhawaia Utshob has come to embody the cultural ritual of this region and is one of the most noteworthy festivals that celebrate it. Banglalink is proud to be sponsoring this event for the sixth consecutive year as part of its continued effort to encourage and advocate local culture and heritage.”
