DHAKA: A two-day international textile exposition titled ‘Indian Textile Exhibition-INTEXPO Bangladesh’ will begin at Sonargaon Hotel in the city from September 29.

The Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC), an apex body of man-made fiber (MMF) textile manufacturers and exporters in India, will organized the exhibition in association with Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI), Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) are providing supports to the event.

At the show, some 23 leading Indian manufacturing and exporting companies will display their textile products, including suiting, shirting, dress materials, embroidered fabrics, high fashion fabrics, furnishings, home textiles, made-ups like scarf, stoles, shawls, laces, synthetic and blended yarns etc.

The show will provide opportunity to the textile and garment business community of Bangladesh to see the quality and range of Indian fabrics and yarns to establish personal contacts for mutually beneficial business tie-ups.

Organizers of the event hope that the exhibition will strengthen the existing trade ties between the two neighboring countries, particularly, in the man-made textiles.

Mutual cooperation between the countries will make the textiles and garments sector more profitable, they expected.

The synthetic and rayon textile industry is a growing sector in India. The country is the second largest producer of cellulose fiber and yarn and fourth largest producer of Synthetic fiber and yarn across the world.

The Middle East and Gulf region is the largest buyer of Indian exports that accounts for 25 percent of the total exports followed by 23 percent from the Asian countries and 22 percent from the European Union.

At present, India is exporting these MMF products to 140 countries.

Export of synthetic and rayon products from India to Bangladesh has been increased remarkably for past five years. The export accounts $124 million in 2009-10, which reaches at $237 million in 2013-14.
