DBBL sacks 2000 employees!

DHAKA: Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL), a leading private commercial bank of the country, allegedly sacked some 2,000 employees recently across country.

The employees were working as Assistant Relationship Officer (ARO) on contract basis in some 137 branches of the bank.

Some of the employees alleged that the bank authorities dismissed them from their posts and given them a third party appointment in the name of E-zone.

They also claimed that they were forced to sign in the resignation letters.

On the other hand, the authorities concerned declined the allegations and said that the decision was taken after a meeting with them.

According to the new appointment, the employees will get Tk 6000 less salary than the previous contract.

Previously they got Tk 10,000 per month but according to the new contract they will get Tk 4000 as basic and they can get another Tk 6000 by fulfilling a certain target.

Another ill fated employee said that he has been working for the bank for last three and half years. According to the bank policy he thought his job would be permanent after two years but now they are being diverted to the third party.

Public Relations Officer of DBBL Mohammad Shahzada Basunia said that the employees would be benefited after the third-party agreement.

Previously they did not have any provident fund, gratuity, vacations or group insurance but now these things would be assured by the third party, he added.
