India hands over 25 million US dollar grant

DHAKA: High Commissioner of India Pankaj Saran called on AMA Muhith, Finance Minister of Bangladesh on Monday, and handed over a cheque of US$ 25 million (approximately Tk 194 crore).

The money was given as the fourth tranche of the USD 200 million grant committed by the Government of India to Bangladesh in 2012.

With this, India has completed the disbursement of USD 175 million grant assistance to Bangladesh.

The High Commissioner also briefed the Finance Minister on the latest status of 15 ongoing projects under the remaining USD 800 million Indian Line of Credit, which are in different stages of implementation.

The High Commissioner also thanked the Finance Minister for Bangladesh’s positive response on the establishment of Special Economic Zone for Indian companies, which will promote greater Indian investments in Bangladesh.
