DHAKA: Insurance Development & Regulatory Authority (IDRA) Bangladesh has made training session of 72 hours compulsory to take an agent license for insurance companies.

The rule will be effective from January 1 of 2015.

Recently, IDRA has issued the notification and sent letters to insurance companies in this regard.

Apart from agents, the financial associates also were instructed by IDRA to receive the 72-hour training.

The notification said that all insurance agents should take training from authorized institutions to ensure skilled manpower and development of this industry.

The notification added that only the trained persons will be considered as eligible to get license as agents by the recommendations of the chief executives of insurance companies.

The initiative was taken as per section-124(4) of Insurance Act-2010 and National Insurance Policy-2014.
