‘GDP to surpass 6.5pc likely’

DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman categorically said that the growth of country’s Gross Domestic Products (GDP) may surpass predicted 6.5 percent in current fiscal.

The governor came up with the expectation while addressing a scholarship giving program organized by NCC Bank Limited at Diploma Engineers’ Institute in the city.

Dr Atiur Rahman said “As per the current economic condition, the growth will exceed 6.5 percent in present fiscal and a new record on foreign currency reserve will be set on Thursday (December 18).

Now, the reserve is at $22.36 billion that will cross Thursday and maintaining import expenditure for at least seven months is possible by this reserve.
