ACC quizzes 2 ex-directors of United Air

DHAKA: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) interrogated M Shfikur Rahman and Khandaker Mamun Ali, two former directors of United Airways Limited, to look into the allegation of laundering crores of money and swindling out Tk 452 crore from share market.

A three-member team of the anti-graft body led-by deputy director Mir Zainul Abedin Shibli quizzed them from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Sunday at its headquarters in city’s Segunbagicha area.

Besides, four more directors Hazi Sanwar Mia, Azizur Rahman, Tarun Mia and Raza Mia sought more time to face ACC interrogation.

According to ACC sources, Captain Tasbirul Ahmed Chowdhury, founder chairman and MD of United Airways, allegedly laundered huge amount of money through the procurement of three aircrafts showing extra price of international rate.

In the name of procuring the aircrafts, he also collected Tk 415 crore from stock market of the country.
