Bangladesh Trade Fair in Kuwait from Apr 23

DHAKA: A three-day Bangladesh Trade Fair Kuwait-2015 will kick off in Kuwait on April 23 aiming to display Bangladeshi products as part of strengthening bilateral trade.

Kuwait-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KBCCI) secretary general Abdul Matin Bhuiyan informed the matter in a press conference at a city hotel on Saturday.

The fair will be held in the Kuwait International Trade Fair ground, he said. 

Sources concerned said Commerce Minister Tafail Ahmed will inaugurate the fair while The Commerce Minister of Kuwait and Bangladesh Foreign Minister will also attend the opening ceremony,

Abdul Matin Bhuiyan also said the 100 business organizations will take part in the fair. Besides, manpower export companies, pharmaceutical industry, ceramics, jute goods and handy craft, Bank-Insurance, Information and Communication Technology Institute, Food Products, garments, vegetables, leather industry, real estate, tourism industry will also take part in the exposition.

The exports of Bangladesh were US $ 15 million in 2012, when the fair had been arranged for the first time in Kuwait. On the other hand, imports were more than one billion dollars, he added.

KBCCI president Habibur Rahamn said the previous trade fair in Kuwait could be a significant contributor to increase trade between two nations. Hopefully, this year the bilateral trade between them will be strengthened more.

KBCCI vice president Jahidur Rahman, M Mohsin, private television channel ATN Bangla adviser Mir Motaher Hossain, its director  Monirul Islam were, among others, present at the press meet.
