DHAKA: The cabinet gave its final nod to the draft of Cox’s Bazar Development Authority Bill-2015.

Besides, National Information and Communication Technology Regulations Bill-2015 has also been approved in the cabinet meeting.

The approval came at a weekly cabinet meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad in city on Monday.

After the meeting, cabinet secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan briefed the press at secretariat.

He said that Cox’s Bazar has immense importance and possibilities of being a city for tourism. The unplanned urbanization has weakened its attraction. In this situation, the government has taken initiatives to establish an authority for planned urbanization.

Cox’s Bazar Development Authority will work as of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha and Chittagong Unnayan Kartripakkha, he secretary added.

According to him, any sort of development and infrastructural work will need permission from the newly formed authority.
