DHAKA: For the benefit of the country’s agricultural sector, government has decided to provide various types of incentives worth about Tk 30 crore to 2.25 lakh farmers.

Agriculture minister Matia Chowdhury disclosed the matter while talking to reporters at her secretariat office on Wednesday.

She said a total of 210,000 farmers from 48 districts have got land one bigha each in 2014-2015 fiscal year to increase ‘upashi ayush’ verity of paddy.

Matia Chowdhury further said with this initiative additional 70 thousand metric tons of rice, worth of Tk 224, are expected to be produced.

Moreover, price of the straw will be Tk 7 crore.

The minister also proposed to provide incentives to 21 districts affected with recent hailstorms and cyclone.
