2-day Zakat Fair begins

DHAKA: The third Zakat Fair 2015 kicked off in Dhaka on Friday with the theme ‘making a difference with Zakat’.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal inaugurated the fair as the chief guest at National Shooting Federation Complex in Gulshan-1 in the morning.

Center for Zakat Management, Muslim Aid Bangladesh, Islamic Relief Bangladesh and Exim Bank jointly organised the fair.

In the fair, Maulana Manajur-e Elahi delivered religious talks about rules of Zakat.

Speakers present at the fair said paying Zakat in accordance with the Islamic Sharia would help reducing poverty rate in the country.

They said if Zakat will be paid and distributed fairly, no poor people will exist in Bangladesh.

Beside the Zakat Consultation Desk, several stalls will display different products hijabs, garments, gift items, books for Zakat recipients.

The Zakat Fair is to open every day from 10:00am to 8:00pm for all.

On Wednesday, Organizing committee member secretary of the Fair and center for Zakat management general manger Khandaker Zakaria Ahmed revealed the information at a ‘meet the press’ programme at Dhaka Reporters Unity.
