Markets see up at opening

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – are witnessing gain in share price indices in the opening hour on Monday (December 19), the second session of the trading week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained over 12.58 points or 0.25 percent to stand at 4951.17 points at 12:25 pm.

Trade deals stood at 89,503 with a transaction over Tk 5608.01 million. Of the issues traded, 164 advanced, 105 declined and 47 remained unchanged.

Bangladesh Building Systems Ltd. topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 268.53 million having changed hands till then.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the suit, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, acquired over 21.65 points to stand at 9230.78 points till 12:24 pm.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 115 gained, 77 declined and 23 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 221.84 million.
