DHAKA: The benchmark indices of the country’s two bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – witnessed gain on Monday (January 2), the second trading day of the week.

The key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange, DSEX, gained over 35.69 points and 0.70 percent to stand at 5119.58 at the end of trading.

Trade deals stood at 235,975 with transaction at Tk 14481.53 million.

Of the issues traded, 190 advanced, 114 declined and 22 remained unchanged.

Bangladesh Building Systems Ltd topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 572.12 million having changed hands on the day.

Chittagong stocks also followed the trend, as CSCX, the prime index, gained 78.41 points to stand at 9536.38.

Out of the issues traded, 145 gained, 95 declined and 25 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 784.55 million.
