Bourses start week with loss

DHAKA: The benchmark indices of the country’s two bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – witnessed loss on Sunday (January 08), the first trading session of week.
 
The key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange, DSEX, lost over 23.55 points and 0.45 percent to stand at 5158.69 at the end of day’s exchange.

Trade deals stood at 194,824 with transaction at Tk 10751.28 million.

Of the issues traded, 89 advanced, 211 declined and 26 remained unchanged.

The Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 525.60 million having changed hands on the day.

Chittagong stocks also followed the trend, as CSCX, the prime index, came down to 9580.45 by 60.66 points on the day.

Out of the issues traded, 59 gained, 187 declined and 17 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 589.60 million.
