Markets see up in opening hours

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- are witnessing gain in share price indices in the opening hours on Monday (January 9), the second trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained over 35.86 points or 0.69 percent to stand at 5194.55 points at 11:59 am.

Trade deals stood at 80,254 with a transaction over Tk 4856.67 million. Of the issues traded, 201 advanced, 70 declined and 41 remained unchanged.

Bangladesh Export Import Company Ltd. topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 361.54 million having changed hands till then.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the suit, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, acquired over 69.83 points to stand at 9650.28 points till 11:54 am.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 140 gained, 43 declined and 17 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 211.55 million till filing the report.
