Markets see deflation in opening hours

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- are witnessing loss in share price indices in the opening hours on Thursday (January 12), the final trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), shed over 10.30 points or 0.19 percent to stand at 5323.50 points at 12:21 pm.

Trade deals stood at 100,771 with a transaction over Tk 6476.51 million. Of the issues traded, 119 advanced, 165 declined and 37 remained unchanged.

Baraka Power Company topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 394.55 million having changed hands till then.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the suit, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, lost over 18.89 points to stand at 9907.58 points till 12:18 pm.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 81 gained, 121 declined and 24 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 300.85 million till filing the report.
