Nordic Chamber, DI signs MoU on economic cooperation

DHAKA: Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bangladesh (NCCI) and the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) on Friday (January 13) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Business, Trade and Economic cooperation.

On behalf of their respective organizations, NCCI President Shamim Ul Huq and DI Deputy Director Peter Thagesen signed the MoU in Copenhagen of Denmark, says a press release issued by NCCI.

Bangladesh Ambassador in Denmark Muhammad Abdul Muhith, Ib Albertsen from IFU and Søren Robenhagen, Commercial Counselor at the Royal Danish Embassy in Dhaka were also present at the event.

NCCI and DI have entered into this MoU with the shared purpose of encouraging, promoting and facilitating economic cooperation among the respective business communities of Bangladesh and Denmark.

The goal is to establish a framework for the development of stronger business relations between the two nations, and to set forth the procedures for cooperation which can enhance the implementation of mutual economic objectives, the release added.

This agreement will not only be seen as a platform to build and strengthen professional ties between representatives of both organizations but the cooperation will also be an important forum for the exchange of information, experience, knowledge and best practices between Bangladesh and Denmark.

DI is a private organization funded, owned and managed entirely by 10,000 companies within manufacturing, trade and service industry with the aim to provide the best possible corporate conditions for Danish industry.

The Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bangladesh (NCCI) was founded in 2010 as a joint initiative of the Nordic Companies and Embassies in Bangladesh.

The overall objective of NCCI is firstly to create a strong network and unified voice for Nordic Companies operating in Bangladesh.

It also works to promote Bangladesh as an ideal destination for Nordic investments.
