Markets see deflation Wednesday

DHAKA: The benchmark indices of the country’s two bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – witnessed loss on Wednesday (January 18), the fourth trading session of the week.

The key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange, DSEX, shed over 41.97 points and 0.75 percent to stand at 5533.49 at the end of day’s trading.

Trade deals stood at 283,647 with transaction at Tk 19893.25 million.

Of the issues traded, 114 advanced, 191 declined and 23 remained unchanged.

Baraka Power Ltd. topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 735.02 million having changed hands on the day.

Chittagong stocks also followed the trend, as CSCX, the prime index, lost 91.23 points to stand at 10288.09.

Out of the issues traded, 95 gained, 167 declined and 16 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 1,215.17 million.
