Markets see gain in opening hours

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- are witnessing gain in share price indices in the opening hours on Tuesday (January 24), the third trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained over 41.25 points or 0.72 percent to stand at 5711.04 points at 12:55 pm.

Trade deals stood at 154,633 with a transaction over Tk 11390.11 million. Of the issues traded, 134 advanced, 170 declined and 19 remained unchanged.

Islami Bank Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 557.62 million having changed hands till then.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the suit, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, acquired over 66.42 points to stand at 10712.83 points till 12:52 pm.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 87 gained, 149 declined and 14 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 657.75 million till filing the report.
