Bourses see loss Wednesday

DHAKA: Investors witnessed fall in the benchmark indices of the country’s bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange - on Wednesday (Aug 16).

The key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange, DSEX, shed over 38.35 points and 0.64 percent to stand at 5883.24 at the end of the day’s trading.

Trade deals stood at 1,33,661 with transaction at Tk 8363.78 million.

Of the issues traded, 68 advanced, 237 declined and 26 remained unchanged.

The BBS Cables Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 373.92 million having changed hands.

The other toppers are Uttara Bank, IFIC Bank, Ifad Autos, Pubali Bank and Grameen Phone Limited.

Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, s CSCX, the prime index, climbing down to 11042.94 by dropping over 68.79 points.

Out of the issues traded, 55 gained, 183 declined and 14 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 415.13 million.
