DHAKA: Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has directed authorities concerned of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to keep its cargo service open for round the clock on emergency basis.

Moreover, branches of banks concerned for opening Letter of Credit (L/C) were also directed to keep open on Saturday in order to ease the offload process of imported goods from airport.

The decisions were made at a view-exchange meeting in PMO on Tuesday (Sep 11). 

High level private and public employees concerned joined the meeting chaired by Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Nazibur Rahman.

Several decisions were made regarding the cargo section of the airport. They are- imported goods that received bank clearance bill on Thursday afternoon can be unloaded from airport on Saturday; pre-arrival processing for cargo must be completed before it arrives. 

Moreover, airport Customs House was directed to open till 9:00pm in every working day for faster discharging to goods.
