Number of taxpayers to rise to 35 lakh, e-TIN holders to 50 lakh in 2-year NBR press conference

DHAKA: A week-long income tax fair at the initiative of National Board of Revenue (NBR) will be kicked-off in Dhaka on Tuesday (November 13).

NBR Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuyian made the remarks at a press conference at NBR conference room on Sunday afternoon (Nov 11).

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will inaugurate the fair at 10:00am in that day at Officers Club in city’s Bailey road area.

State minister for Finance MA Mannan, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) president Shafiul Alam Mohiuddin, officials of NBR and businessmen from various organizations will be present at the inauguration ceremony.  

NBR Chairman said the number of tax return submission will increase from 20 lakhs to 35 lakhs and e-TIN holders from 35 lakh to 50 lakhs in the next two years.

He also said the income tax fair will be held across the country to encourage people for paying their fair share of tax. The income tax fair is being held annually since 2010 and the estimated cost for this year’s fair is Tk 22 crore.
