DHAKA: The two bourses of the country – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – closed higher in share price indices on Thursday (Dec 27), on the last trading day of 2018.
DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained over 36.46 points or 0.68 percent to stand at 5,385.64 points at the end of day’s trading.
EBL Securities, in its daily analysis, said the winning streak extended in DSE for the seventh straight day following investors' optimistic view amid new hope in the year 2019.
“The last working day of the year 2018 observed, the enthusiastic investors were active on both side of the trading session”, it added.
Trade deals stood at 126,318 with transaction at Tk 5,383.42 million.
Of the issues traded, 182 advanced, 108 declined and 54 remained unchanged.
BRAC Bank topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 202.55 million having changed hands on the day.
Other toppers of the market include United Power Generation and Distribution Company Ltd, Bangladesh Export Import Company Ltd, National Life Insurance Company Ltd, Paramount Textiles Limited, JMI Syringes and Medical Services Ltd, Khulna Power Company Ltd, BBS Cables Limited, Confident Cement Ltd and Grameenphone Ltd.
Meanwhile, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed in green zone today. CSCX increased by 53.2 & CASPI increased by 90.2 points respectively.
Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 132 advanced, 93 declined and 38 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk. 414.71 million.
