DHAKA:  Share price index at the country’s twin bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) –registered gain on the first day of 2019 on Tuesday (Jan 1) as investors went on positive mood to start a new year.

Both the DSE and the CSE began trading on positive note and ended the day with gain.

The DSE benchmark index, DSEX gained 79.61 points or 1.47 percent to reach 5465.25 at the close of day’s trading.

Of the issues traded, 264 gained, 54 declined and 23 remained unchanged.

Trade deals stood at 136,917 with transaction at Tk 5,301.74 million.

The day’s top 10 gainers at the DSE were BBSCABLES, PTL, BEXIMCO, IFADAUTOS, SAIHAMCOT, JMISMDL, UPGDCL, PENINSULA and BDCOM.

IFADAUTOS, NBL, RSRMSTEEL, BBS, SINGERBD, GSPFINANCE, NAVANACNG were the top most traded issues in terms of both value and volume of trade at the DSE.

The CSE overall share index, CASPI gained 281 points to reach 16730.81at the close today.

Of the 248 issues traded, 198 advanced, 39 suffered loss and 11 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 244.87 million on the day.
