DSE, CSE end higher Monday

DHAKA: The country’s both bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed gain on Monday (Feb 4) after a three day losing streak.

The DSE benchmark index, DSEX gained 26.73 points or 0.46 percent to reach 5,828.07 points at the closing of the day’s trading.

Of the issues traded on the day, 150 gained, 155 declined and 42 remained unchanged.

Shares worth Tk 8,890.51 million changed hands on the second session of the week.

United Power Generation and Distribution Company Ltd topped the turnover chart again with shares worth Tk 600 million changing hands.

Power Grid Company of Bangladesh was the best performer, posting a gain of 8.02 per cent while Asia Insurance Limited was the worst loser, losing 10 per cent.

Similarly, the CSE overall share index, CASPI gained 64 points to stand at 17,856 points.

Of the 272 issues traded, 117 advanced, 127 suffered and 28 remained unchanged.

Shares worth Tk 289.64 million were traded on the day.
