Poor revenue collection areas identified: Finance Minister

DHAKA: Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Sunday (Feb 10) said the areas from where revenue was not collected in expected level have been identified.

“Expected revenue has not been collected from some areas. Such areas have already been identified”, the minister was talking to reporters at NEC conference room at Sher-e-Bangla nagar. 

Emerging from the meeting here with senior officials of the Finance Division and members and commissioners of the Value Added Tax and customs, he said “Our aim is to increase revenue collection. We are trying to increase revenue earning with cooperation of everyone”. 

“There will be tax offices in every area. Required manpower will be recruited and automation will be done to increase revenue earnings” Mustafa Kamal also said. 

The expected revenue will be collected in all areas, the minister hoped.

The minister also assured of taxpayers not taxes to be collecting from anyone by hurting or causing damage of him/her.

“Tax management will be consolidated. Not the tax rate, the tax net will be increases so that anyone will face loss”, he added. 

National Board of Revenue (NBR) chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan and Finance Secretary Abdur Rouf Talukder, were, among others, present.
