Bangladesh for reducing trade deficit with Thailand

DHAKA: Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Wednesday (March 27) has urged to reduce trade deficit between Bangladesh and Thailand.

At the same time, the minister requested the Thailand government to invest in this country.

Tipu Munshi was addressing the inaugural function of Thai Trade Fair 2019 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel this morning.

The minister said Bangladesh's economic situation is stable. Bangladesh is now attractive for investment. Our growth is more than 8 percent. So, he called the Thai government and investors for investing in Bangladesh.

He also said Thailand is ahead in tourism and medical services. Bangladesh can work with Thailand in the sectors. The minister sought cooperation from the Thai government to overcome the complexities over visa.

Thai Embassy in Dhaka and Commerce ministry of Thailand jointly have organized the four-day fair to be ended on March 30.

As many as 76 business bodies will take part in the fair to be held at the ballroom of Sonargaon hotel from March 27 to March 30.

The fair will remain open to all from 10 am to 8pm each of the days.

A wide range of products including healthcare, cosmetics, garments, fashion products, electronics, jewelleries, spa, fruits, foods and drinks, confectionaries, make-up products, footwear, leather products and housekeeping products will be exhibited in the fair.

Alongside the fair, as the Commerce ministry of Thailand and Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel has hosted Thai Food Festival at the venue. Besides, Thai artists will perform Thai Classical Dance in the fair.
