DSE, CSE return to green

DHAKA: The key share price indices at the country’s twin bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- returned to positive trend on Monday (April 1) after a day losing streak. 

DSE turnover has reached Tk 4,239.74 million changed hands while previous session’s turnover was Tk 3,615.37 million. 

DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, went up by 11.17 points or 0.20 percent, to reach 5,503 at the close of day’s trading.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 2.21 points or 0.17 per cent to close at 1,277.66.

The DS30 comprising blue chips rose over 4.42 points or 0.22 per cent to close at 1,971.63 points. 

Of the issues traded, 163 advanced, 126 suffered loss and 54 remained unchanged.

“The market sustained positive trend throughout the session with modest volatility as opportunity hunter investors opted to take fresh position in their portfolio with the undervalued stocks,” EBL Securities in its daily market analysis.

United Power Generation and Distribution Company Lt was toped the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 367.39 million changing hands.

Top five gainers at the DSE were   JANATAINS, UNITEDINS, BNICL, ASIAINS and FEDERALINS.

The overall share index at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), CASPI gained 79.78 points or 0.47 percent to reach 16,882.94 at close on Monday.

Of the 240 issues traded, 126 advanced, 80 suffered loss and 34 remained unchanged.  
     
The value of the traded issues at the port city bourse was Tk 167.01 million on the day.
