DHAKA: Department of Social Services (DSS) opened Zakat fair 2019 in the capital city Saturday (May 11). 

DSS Director General Gazi Mohammad Nurul Kabir inaugurated the fair at Modhumoti Hall of his office in Agargaon, in the afternoon.

DSS Deputy Directors Lamia Yasmin, Shahana Alam and Shakhawat Hossain addressed the opening presided over by DSS Director also Joint Secretary Abdullah Al Mamun.

The target was fixed at taka one crore this year. Meanwhile, the collection has reached Tk 44 lakh, said Gazi Mohammad Nurul Kabir.

However, as many as 28 institutions including Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Sir Salimullah Medical College, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation and Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital are collecting donations.
