DSE, CSE open on upbeat note

DHAKA: Trading on the country’s two bourses - Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - is underway with upward trends of share-price indices on Tuesday (May 28).

After first two hour of the day’s trading, the benchmark index of the DSE rose 44.43 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 105.52 points.

DSEX, the Broad Index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 44.43 points or 0.84 percent to stand at 5297.97 at 11:57 am. 

The two other indices also edged higher.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 10.69 points or 0.89 percent to stand at 1,199.78 points. 

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips gained 16.99 points or 0.92 percent to stand at 1,845.29.

Trade deals stood at 43,654 shares to stand at Tk 1,909.13 million on the DSE, riding on National Life Insurance Company Ltd and United Power generation & distribution company ltd.

Of the issues traded, 221 advanced, 62 declined and 55 remained unchanged.

National Life Insurance Company Ltd topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 66:22 million having changed hands, followed by United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd and Global Insurance Company Ltd

Following the suit, the Chittagong Stock Exchange Overall Share Index (CASPI) climbed up to 16,123 by gaining over 105.52 points or 0.65 percent at about 11:53 am. 

Out of the 181 issues traded, 109 gained, 40 declined and 32 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 306.26 million.
