Stocks continue gaining streak

DHAKA: The capital bourse of the country has continued displaying upward trends for fifth sessions in a row on Thursday (May 30) with active participation from the investors. 

The key index of DSE, DSEX, went up by 23.54 points or 0.43 percent to close the day at 5,377.74 points. 

The DSE Shariah Index saw gain of 2.04 points or 0.16 percent to close at 1214.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also rose over 8.33 points or 0.44 percent to finish at 1,876.59.

Of the issues traded, 180 gained, 115 declined and 50 remained unchanged. 

Shares worth Tk 4,250.07 million changed hands at the DSE on the fourth trading session of this week. 

“The BSEC approved a draft proposal regarding public issue rules amendment, tightening capital raising process through initial public offering and raised IPO quota facility for the general investors which fueled the market trend” said eblsecurities, it its daily analysis.

New Line Clothing Ltd dominated the DSE turnover chart with exchanging shares worth Tk 143.85 million followed by JMI Syringes and Medical Devices.

Top five gainers at DSE were     PREMIERLEA, MIDASFIN, REPUBLIC, NATLIFEINS and CITYGENINS while top losers at DSE were BEACHHATCH, MEGCONMILK, IMAMBUTTON, MEGHNAPET    and GHCL.

The CSE overall share index, CASPI also advanced 37.34 points or 0.22 percent to reach 16,375.75 points at the close today.

Of the 244 issues traded, 127 advanced, 83 suffered loss and 34 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 420.13 million.
