DSE, CSE end in green after Eid

DHAKA: Stocks ended in green on Sunday (June 9), the first session after nine-day Eid holidays at share market, as investors exerted buying pressures on sector-wise stocks.

The core index remained positive throughout the session as enthusiastic behavior from the investors sustained and they kept buying fresh stocks to rebalance their portfolios on large-cap stocks. 

The key index of DSE, DSEX, went up by 25.22 points or 0.46  percent to close the day at 5,402.96 points. 

The DSE Shariah Index saw gain of 5.81 points or 0.47 percent to close at 1,220.07.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also rose over 12.44 points or 0.66 percent to finish at 1,889.03.

Of the issues traded, 171 gained, 125 declined and 49 remained unchanged. 

Shares worth Tk 3,046.69 million changed hands at the DSE on the fourth trading session of this week. 

“Country’s share market witnessed an upward session as investors are optimism ahead of the announcement of national budget declaration for the fiscal year 2019-20 would extend incentives to the capital market”, said eblsecurities, it its daily analysis.

National Life Insurance Company Ltd dominated the DSE turnover chart with exchanging shares worth Tk 188.25 million followed by United Power Generation and Distribution Company Ltd and Eastern Housing Ltd.

Top five gainers at DSE were EHL, 1STPRIMFMF    , NATLIFEINS, PRAGATILIF and SEMLFBSLGF while top losers at DSE were MERCANBANK, STANDBANKL    , NCCBANK, SHAHJABANK and NLI1STMF.

The CSE overall share index, CASPI also advanced 143.87 points or 0.87 percent to reach      16,519.63 points at the close today.

Of the 231 issues traded, 125advanced, 65 suffered loss and 41 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 415.49 million.
