DSE, CSE end week in red

DHAKA: The share price indices at the country's both bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – ended the week in red after two-days gaining streak amid profit booking selling pressure.

DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, shed over 15.77 points or 0.29 percent to reach 5,395.62 at the close of the on Thursday (June 20)’s trading.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 1.79 points or 0.14 percent to close at 1,233.27.

The DS30 comprising blue chips went down by 3.42 points or 0.18 percent to close at 1,894 points. 

Of the issues traded, 85 gained, 222 declined and 44 remained unchanged.
 
The DSE turnover reached Tk 4,456.70 million changed hands. 

“Investors remained cautious as they awaited the government move to review the proposed taxes on listed companies,” said EBL securities, in its daily analysis. 

United Power Generation and Distribution Company Ltd topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 300.87 million followed by Rupali Life Insurance Ltd and Nurani Dyeing and Sweater Ltd.

The day’s top five gainers at the DSE were SUNLIFEINS, RNSPIN, PREMIERCEM, NCCBLMF1 and APEXSPINN while top five losers at the main bourse were SONARBAINS, EASTERNINS, RUPALIINS, PURABIGEN and PHENIXINS.
 
The CSE overall share index, CASPI, also went down by 42.77 points 0.25 percent to reach 16,522.93 at the close today.

Of the 263 issues traded, 69 advanced, 150 suffered loss and 44 remained unchanged.
   
The value of the traded issues was Tk 419.48 million on Thursday.
