  DSE, CSE extend gaining streak

DHAKA: Stocks witnessed another uptrend session on Thursday (June 27), extending the gaining spell for third consecutive sessions in a row amid growing confidence among the investors.

Market analysts said both the bourses of the country witnessed another upbeat session as investors spurred their buying spell to take position on large-cap stocks. 

Shares worth Tk 5,173.54 million changed hands at the DSE on the second trading session of this week.

The key index of DSE, DSEX, went up by 19.34 points or 0.35 percent to close the day at 5430 points. 

The DSE Shariah Index saw gain of 3.90 points or 0.31 percent to close at 1245.82.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also rose over 0.69 points or 0.69 percent to finish at 1924.90.

Of the issues traded, 147 gained, 154 declined and 51 remained unchanged.

“Market displayed upward trend throughout the session as investors reacted positively regarding the news of reviewing the proposed tax on retained earnings and reserve in the final budget coupled with June closing year-end earnings and dividend declarations prompted investors to inject fresh funds on stocks,” said EBL securities in its daily market analysis.

Square Pharmaceuticals dominated the DSE turnover chart with exchanging shares worth Tk 262.02 million followed by United Power Generation and Distribution Company Ltd and JMI Syringes and Medical Devices Ltd.

Top five gainers at DSE were PRAGATIINS, SALVOCHEM, RUNNERAUTO, VAMLBDMF1 and BGIC while Top five losers at DSE were EASTERNINS, SEMLLECMF, 1STPRIMFMF, SONARBAINS and CAPMIBBLMF

The CSE overall share index, CASPI also advanced 81.23 points or 0.49 percent to reach 16642.59 points at the close today.

Of the 268 issues traded, 134 advanced, 88 suffered loss and 46 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 438.25 million.
