DHAKA: National Board of Revenue (NBR) said the proposed budget for fiscal year 2019-20 hasn't imposed any VAT (Value Added Tax) on sanitary napkin for women.

Confirming the matter, NBR requested all not to spread any confusion on the social media, in this regard.  

In a press release issued Wednesday (July 3), NBR rejected news stating the government has imposed VAT on sanitary napkin.

"These (news) are totally false and confusion smearing campaign,' it added. 

The government even exempted both import and supplementary duty on sanitary napkin and similar products, the release mentioned.
