Bangladesh-China sign 9 instruments, MoUs

BEIJING, CHINA: China and Bangladesh have signed nine instruments and Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) to increase cooperation in economic, technical, electricity, culture and investment.

The nine instruments — five agreements, three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and a document — were signed in the presence of visiting Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang at Great Hall of the People, the state house, in Beijing on Thursday (July 4).

Following the bilateral meeting between the representatives of the two countries led by the Prime Ministers of Bangladesh and China, these agreements and MoUs have been signed. 

The ministers and senior officials concerned of the two countries signed these documents.

A framework agreement was signed between China's Ministry of Commerce and Economic Relations Division (ERD) of Bangladesh regarding “Expansion and Strengthening of Power System Network under Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) Area”

Besides, a loan agreement “Expansion and Strengthening of Power System Network under DPDC Area Project” and a Credit Loan Agreement of ‘Expansion and Strengthening of Power System Network under DPDC Area Project’ were signed between China's Export-Import Bank and Bangladesh Economic Relations Division (ERD).

Under the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited (PGCB) project, a framework agreement was signed between the Ministry of Commerce and Bangladesh Economic Relations Division to strengthen the power grid network.

An agreement on economic and technical cooperation between Bangladesh and China has been signed between the two countries.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the Establishment of Investment Cooperation Working Group. The Ministry of Commerce of the China and the ERD of Bangladesh signed the MoU on behalf of the respective side.

The Chinese Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Water Resources of Bangladesh signed a MoU and its Implementation Plan on hydrological information sharing of Yalu Zhangbo / Brahmaputra River

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two countries on Cultural Exchange and Tourism Programme. Ministry of Culture of both countries signed the agreement.

An agreement titled “Letter of Exchange (LoC) on the Rohingya Refugees Rice Aid”, between China's International Development Co-operation Agency and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has been signed to provide 2,500 metric tons of rice to the forcibly displaced Rohingyas from Myanmar.
