Banks open in city’s animal hat areas before Eid

DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank has asked the scheduled banks to remain open its branches, adjacent to sacrificial animals’ hat in the capital, and to keep open the evening banking for three days before Eid. 

Banking Regulations and Policy Department of the central bank on Wednesday (August 7) issued a circular to chief executive officers (CEOs) of all the scheduled banks.

It said that on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, many merchants come to the hats of the sacrificial animals were under the supervision and management of the Dhaka North and South City Corporation and a large amount of cash is transacted here. As a result, the security of financial transactions in the huts is very important. 

The banks adjacent to Kurbani Hats have been instructed to conduct normal banking activities from 10am to 6pm, and to conduct evening banking activities from 6pm to 8pm, for three days before Eid-ul-Azha.

In this case, BB also asked to give reasonable allowance to the officers and employees for the three days of the weekly and general holidays before Eid ul Azha.

Bangladesh banks has advised banks to visit the branch on a sudden basis through specific officers during the night of holidays  and to take proper measures to ensure security of the bank's branches and vaults during Eid-ul-Azha, along with general holidays, and to maintain regular contact with law enforcers in the holidays, the circular added.
