Coca-Cola to invest US $200m in Bangladesh

DHAKA: Coca-Cola, a multinational company that produces soft drinks, will invest US $ 200 million in Bangladesh in the next five years. 

Of this, $ 50 million will be invested next year.

A six-member delegation of the Coca-Cola Company met with Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at his Ministry on Thursday (August 8).

Brian Smith, president and chief operating officer of Coca-Cola Company, led their delegation. Industries Secretary Mohammad Abdul Halim and Additional Secretary Parag were present.

The industries minister said that the Industries Ministry will provide all kinds of support from to Coca-Cola for investment here. He urged the company to come forward to produce bottled water and other healthy drinks in Bangladesh. 

The delegation called on Coca-Cola to provide other facilities, including tax cuts, to send them to the Ministry of Industry in the form of a proposal.

Industries Secretary said there is a huge market in Bangladesh. Purchasing power of people is increasing. People are more interested in new products.

Brian Smith said Bangladesh is very potential market for Coca Cola. Coca-Cola's production capacity will be increased to boost supply in rural areas. In the future, coke mixed with different sugar levels will be produced in Bangladesh.
