DHAKA: City Bank Ltd sued its former assistant vice president Monira Sultana Popy on various allegations of blackmailing and harassing attempts against the bank.

Head of Court Operation at Legal Division of the bank's head office AKM Ayub Ullah filed the case with Gulshan Police Station Tuesday (August 20).  

Monira Sultana Popy, who was sacked from the bank earlier, demanded that the bank is indebted five crore taka to her. She said she will harass the managing director (MD) to continue his job if she isn't reappointed and isn't paid the due along with various facilities, said the case document.

She also gave threats to humiliate the MD, it added.  

Reliable sources the bank shifted Popy to its Pay-Role Banking Division on September 17, 2018 after various discipline breaching complaints were raised against her when she served as the personal assistant (PA) of the bank's former managing director Sohail RK Hussain.   
 
She was later fired from the bank due to unauthorized leave for long.
 
The bank owns taka one crore to Popy, as of provident fund, house building loan, credit card and vehicle loans and personal loan for which she was served notice, said the bank authorities.

She didn't reply to the notice.

Moreover, she accused MD Mashrur Arefin, Head of CRRM Abdul Wadud and Company Secretary Mohammad Kafi in a sexual harassment case filed with Gulshan Police Station.

However, Gulshan Police Station Inspector (Investigation) SM Kaiyum said that investigation has been launched into the case lodged by City Bank.
