 Bangladesh signs MoU to export skilled manpower to Japan

DHAKA: Bangladesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan on cooperation to export skilled Bangladeshi workers in various fields of Japan. 

Bangladesh signed a memorandum of cooperation with Japan as the ninth country to send skilled workers.

Both sides agreed to continue mutual assistance in training and recruitment of workers.

The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Foreign Employment provided the information in a press release on Tuesday (August 27).

In Tokyo, a Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between Japan's Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Japan's National Planning Agency and Bangladesh's Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment.

Rownaq Jahan, Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment of Bangladesh, and Soko Sasaki, Commissioner of the Immigration Service Agency under the Ministry of Justice of Japan, signed the memorandum of understanding on behalf of respective country.

After the signing ceremony, Raunak Jahan said the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding will create opportunities to export skilled workers to Japan from Bangladesh, subject to certain conditions, which will be beneficial for both countries. The government of Bangladesh has taken various initiatives for the skill development of workers to meet up Japan's requirements.

The Secretary said that since February, 2018, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Foreign Affairs has launched a six-month training course of Japanese language through 26 technical training centers across the country. Apart from this, various private organizations have also taken initiatives to teach Japanese language.

For the next five years, Japan will recruit skilled professionals in 14 categories, including care workers, building cleaning management, machine parts industries, electric, electronics, construction, shipbuilding, automobiles and agriculture.
