Bangladesh now lucrative destination for investment

JAKARTA: The people of Indonesia heard the story of Bangladesh's progress under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

No Bangladeshi political party or government authority, Indonesia's Foreign Ministry officials praised Bangladesh at agreement signing ceremony and seminar on the sideline of Indonesia Trade Expo in Jakarta on Friday (October 18). 

Intraco Group of Companies of Bangladesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Garuda Indonesia’s aircraft maintenance unit.

Speaking at the programme, they said that Bangladesh is now lucrative destination for investment because of the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Rina Sumarano started lauding Bangladesh’s development. Then Ferdi Piai, director of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for South and Central Asia echoed the same. 

They both said at present, Bangladesh's GDP rate is about 8 percent which was 7.6 percent in 2016. Bangladesh is now the base-country of the readymade garment sector.

For Indonesian investors, they said there are opportunities to invest in big sectors, including establishing universities and power plants. If you invest in IT sector, the Bangladesh government is providing many benefits. 

Ferdi Pai said China, Japan, Korea are taking the opportunities to invest in Bangladesh.

Mohammad Riyad Ali, managing director of Bangladeshi organization Intraco, said at the ceremony that Bangladesh is moving fast. If this opportunity is not taken, the traders of Indonesia will be lag behind. 

He said that the Indonesian government's Garuda Flight Maintenance will work to repair the defects of various private airlines operating in Bangladesh. They will carry out this operation at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. 

Many Indonesian businessmen, on the occasion, queried about the benefits of investing in Bangladesh.
