DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to launch five new ocean-going ships of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) on Thursday (November 28).

The premier is expected to launch the inauguration ceremony through video conferencing from her official residence-Ganabhaban.

As per contract between the Government of Bangladesh and China, BSC has collected six ships recently, of which, three are oil tanker and three others are bulk carrier.

These six ships has been procured at a cost of taka 1,637 crore 15 lakh. Of the total amount, Chinese government allocated taka 1,527 crore 66 lakh and BSC supplied the rest from its own fund.
