DHAKA: The onion price will come down when new onions come into the market at the end of March, said agriculture minister Dr Abdur Razzak Mahmud Hossain.
Onion will come into the market after 15 to 20 days. Then, problem will be solved immediately, added the minister.
He said this after a meeting with a delegation led by US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R. Miller at his ministry on Wednesday (March 4).
Dr Abdur Razzak Mahmud Hossain said: “Onion price has not gone down. We’re monitoring. The problem is Bangladesh is a disaster-stricken country. Hail storms have damaged onion to a large extent. Despite this, we’re hopeful that we’ll have a good onion harvest this year.”
